Vigilance Department, NCL is committed to inculcate systems based on values, create working climate based on ethics and atmosphere based on probity, integrity and transparency with a focus on improving efficiency & effectiveness of the management. It believes in best practices, adequate controls, transparency in place and decisions taken with adequate proficiency and consistency which lead to better corporate governance.

Vigilance department is headed by CVO. He is assisted by General Manager and group of vigilance officers experienced in various departments.

Vigilance department focuses on preventive, punitive and detection/surveillance roles. The major work profile of the department are: Investigations of complaints received from MOC, CVC, PMO, CIL, individuals and other sources; Surprise inspections; Regular surveillance; Intensive examination reports; Scrutiny of property returns of employees; Scrutiny of procurement and contract files; Systemic improvements and Co-ordination with CVC, CTE, CBI, MOC etc. Vigilance Department arranges seminars/training programs/workshops for benefit of employees.

CVO, on the basis of investigation carried out, provides advice to the management to bring about qualitative improvement in functioning of the company and act as a special advisor to the chief executive in all matters. CVO is also link between the company and various agencies like MOC, DOPT, PMO, CBI, CVC etc. on vigilance matters.

Vigilance Department has been instrumental in bringing far-reaching policy changes in every sphere of activity of the company and initiated lot of IT programs like e-tendering/procurement, OITDS, COALNET, CCTV, GPS based vehicles tracking system to mention a few. The IT initiatives will enable a fair, efficient, transparent and better governed organization.
