Shri K P Venkateshwar Rao, IPS/IGP, is a mechanical engineering graduate from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Hyderabad, a premier engineering college and has passed out in 1989. He joined Indian Police Service 1995 and was allotted MP cadre. He became DIG of Police in 2011 and IGP in 2014. He has served in various places of Madhya Pradesh in different capacities. He has held important assignments in the field as SP & DIG and has vast experience in police & administrative functions. He has been conferred with “President’s Police Medal” for Meritorious Service to the Nation.
He assumed charge as Chief Vigilance Officer, NCL in May’ 2012. He has been conferred upon with many awards in recognition to his outstanding works in NCL. He has been awarded “Vigilance Excellence Award” from Institute of Public Enterprises, Hyderabad for his outstanding contribution in the year 2013-14. He has been conferred with “Vigilance Excellence Award” by Chief Vigilance Commissioner, Shri Pradeep Kumar for his role in implementing preventive vigilance measures at Vigilance Study Circle, Hyderabad in
Adding to his illustrious career, he has also been conferred with “Corporate Vigilance Excellence Award” from Institute of Public Enterprises, Hyderabad in 2015 for his outstanding contribution in mining sector. Further, he was honored with “Vigilance Innovation Award” by Shri K V Chaudhary, Chief Vigilance Commissioner in recognition to innovative work in vigilance at Vigilance Study Circle, Kolkata in 2015
He is a tech savvy and firm believer in system and procedures. He is credited with advocating several systemic improvements in functioning of the company. He has been promoting the use of IT technology in different sphere of activities in the company leading to transparency and better governance in NCL.
